Excerpt from the Foreword by J.F. Lansdowne:
[In this book], Tony pays tribute to corvids with text and striking line drawings, describing the unique behavioral qualities that set them apart from their species. Of special interest is the chapter dealing with the wide range of responses that corvids have evoked throughout history. The author contrasts the veneration accorded to corvids, especially as epitomized by the role Raven has played in the art and mythology of Northwest Coast Indians, with the irrational fear and hatred, occasionally resulting in widespread slaughter, with which many societies have viewed corvids. He suggests that increasing awareness of the role corvids play in a healthy environment may inspire a return to a spirit of compromise and compatibility with existing wildlife rather than control over it.

This collectible edition is a must-have for bird enthusiasts and those interested in the intricate behaviors and cultural significance of corvids.
