Caxton edition (undated) of Hans Andersen’s Fairy Tales. This would have been published between 1886 and 1889.
The opening of the preface reads: “The following pages contain a complete collection of the Fairy Tales of Hans Andersen which are considered suitable for young people, carefully translated and revised, with all obscure passages rendered intelligible to the English reader”.
This book has some of the expected wear of a book over 130 years old. A handful of pages have rips including the table of contents. However, all 579 pages are present. Front seam is part split between front paste down and endpaper which I suspect may be missing.
A wonderful complete collection of Hans Andersen’s fairy tales that you will not have in the more recent printings!
