I’ve made this video to help explain what an Elder Futhark rune reading with me is like.
When I work with the runes, I do my utmost to channel their ancient wisdom and deep earth connection. No one knows exactly how old the runes are — their name itself comes from the meaning “whispered secret.”
The runes I work with are hand-carved by me, each carrying vibrations that bridge what we think of as past, present, and future. But in the worldview of the heathen Germanic peoples and Norse lore, time wasn’t divided that way. Instead, there was that-which-is — containing all that has ever been, shaping what should follow — and that-which-is-becoming, the sword-edge of change. The “future” (that-which-should-be) was only the pale shadow cast by the first two.
These are embodied in the three Norns of Norse lore (which I use as an example, as to me it depicts it perfectly!):
🌿 Urdhr — being (Wyrd)
🌿 Verdhandi — becoming
🌿 Skuld — should
The three runestres, able to cut staves of becoming, must first go to Urdhr — to learn what is, and how the tapestry of your life has been woven.
In a reading, I guide you through seeing your tapestry, offering insight from the light beings, ancestors (if you’ve given permission to invite them), guides, the earth energy deities connected to the runes, and even the trees guarding the reading. Before we begin, I cast a protective tree grove around us — which is why I sometimes ask your favorite tree.
There is much drawn to the energies of the runes, so this protective circle matters.
Within this sacred grove, I speak in the language of nature, spirit, and the unseen currents that I notice weave through your tapestry. My intention is to open a space where you can pause and breathe, listening for the quiet truths within you. Here, you may see your own cycles of transformation more clearly — not as separate moments, but as part of a greater unfolding of your personal empowerment.
