At Ash Tree Books, I also create Ash Tree Runes, a space where I make it my mission to bridge back the helpful elemental energies to the Earth in the present time/space. While Ash Tree Books focuses on collectible, antiquarian, and metaphysical books, Ash Tree Runes is dedicated to bringing intention and magic into each piece I carve.

Today, as I finished carving the last three zodiac signs of this custom set, a thought came to me that I call Tales of a Carver. It reflects the deep care and intention I put into each piece. Before releasing the set into the world, I make sure its energy is properly aligned.

Next, I’ll begin carving the 12 planetary symbols, bringing the total to 24 carvings—similar in number to a full Elder Futhark rune set. That means I’m now halfway through this project.

Hand-carving each piece is a deliberate process. It’s about more than just the physical carving — it’s the intention and energy I place into every symbol that brings them to life. Whether it’s runes, astrological signs, Tree Ogham, or sigils, the carvings become more than marks on stone — they carry elemental energy and the meaning behind each symbol.

While this set is not a traditional rune set, the word “rune” itself means “whispered secrets.” Each carving, whether a rune, an astrological sign, or a symbol from Tree Ogham, holds and shares its own quiet wisdom. What whispered secrets does this carving put out into the world? That’s part of the magic and mystery I love to explore with each piece I create.
