Before I begin carving any stone, I spend time sitting quietly with it. I always ask permission before I make the first mark, allowing the process to unfold in its own way.
Every rune set has its own story, and this one asked me to tell its own.
This 25-piece Elder Futhark rune set is hand-carved on 945 ct of natural White Quartz. As I began working with the stone, the conversation unfolded in a way I hadn’t expected. By the time the final rune had been carved, I had made a promise that this would be the first—and the last—White Quartz Elder Futhark rune set I would ever create.
I came to know it as The Truth Finder Set.
White Quartz has long been associated with clarity, reflection, and amplification. Those qualities are familiar to many people who work with crystals, but I didn’t begin this project with a particular meaning in mind. My practice is simply to spend time with each stone before carving and allow the process to unfold in its own way. This set became what it became through that experience.

Each rune in this 25-piece set was individually carved by hand using traditional hand tools and finished with a bronze pigment—a pigment I hadn’t worked with before. The warmth of the bronze against the White Quartz became one of my favourite finishes I’ve created, bringing a depth and contrast that felt perfectly suited to the finished piece.

Looking back, what stays with me isn’t simply the finished rune set. It’s the reminder that every creative process has its own rhythm. Sometimes the work is straightforward. Sometimes it asks questions. And every so often, it changes the person creating it just enough to leave a lasting promise behind.
Although I don’t write about every rune set I create, every now and then one leaves behind a story that feels worth preserving. The Truth Finder Set is one of those stories.
Some stories are found in books. Others are quietly written in stone.
