A scarce mid-century science fiction novel featuring a synthetic brain created to serve a powerful alien race known as the Great Ones. As its intelligence evolves beyond its programming, it begins to operate with unexpected—and far-reaching—consequences.

The name Jon J. Deegan was a house pseudonym, used here for the work of British writer Robert George Sharp, author of the Old Growler space-exploration series. The Great Ones is recognized as the ninth and final entry in that sequence.

Bound in sky blue cloth with gilt spine lettering and the publisher’s emblem stamped on the front board. This first edition copy retains its original illustrated dust jacket, now housed in a removable clear archival cover.

Condition:

The book is in good condition with a firm binding and clean, unmarked pages. The dust jacket is bright and clean with no wear—an uncommon survival.

This is a scarce title, particularly rare to find as a hardcover First Edition with the original dust jacket intact, free of tears, and fitting tightly. Both the jacket and binding remain clean, unmarked, and unfaded.
