🌈✨ Honoring Freya Aswynn with a Hand-Carved Rainbow Labradorite Rune Set ✨🌈

Honoring Freya Aswynn with a Hand-Carved Rainbow Labradorite Rune Set - Ash Tree Books and Runes

Freya Aswynn has been a guiding voice in the modern revival of Rune practice, Seiðr, and the Northern Mysteries. Her work has carried forward the wisdom of the Runes in a way that is both deeply rooted in tradition and alive with modern relevance.

Born in Holland, Freya became aware of her psychic abilities from an early age, often sensing events before they unfolded. In her late teens she began to intentionally develop her gifts, exploring spiritualist circles and later studying subjects such as Rosicrucianism, Astrology, Cabala, Thelema, and eventually Wicca. Yet her own Dutch heritage stirred questions within her — why were the gods so often spoken of in Graeco-Roman or Celtic terms, with no voice given to the Northern deities?

That question became a turning point. After a period of personal difficulty, she devoted herself to Wodan, a path that opened her to the Northern traditions and the power of the Runes. What began as study soon became a lifelong dedication. Her first book, Leaves of Yggdrasil, grew out of that devotion, followed by Principles of Runes, Northern Mysteries & Magick: Runes, Gods & Feminine Powers, and the audio work Songs of Yggdrasil: Shamanic Chants from the Northern Mysteries. These works are now foundational texts for students and practitioners of the Runes worldwide.

✨ For me, it was Northern Mysteries & Magick that opened the doorway. After reading it, I decided to take a chance and reach out to Freya directly — and to my amazement, she responded. That simple step turned into an ongoing connection, and she has since become one of my mentors. One of the things I admire most about her is that she respects that I work in my own way, even when it differs from hers, while still generously sharing wisdom I am grateful to receive.

This is something I encourage anyone to do: reach out to the people you admire. Let them know you respect them, let them know you see the light they are putting into the world. It’s a good thing to say — and you never know, they may just answer you.

✨ Recently, during one of our video chats (Freya now lives in Spain), I offered to do a Rune reading for her. As I reached for the set I had been carving on Rainbow Labradorite, something remarkable happened — the Runes themselves seemed to leap forward, radiating their wish to go to her. It felt less like a decision and more like a calling: these stones wanted to be with Freya.

And so, I am honoring that channel. This Rainbow Labradorite Rune set is my gift to her — not just as a tool, but as an adornment, a celebration, a way of honoring all that she has carried and shared. The iridescent stones remind me of jewels for a staff — not meant for battle, but for recognition, dignity, and joy.

With love and deep respect, I send these Runes on their journey to her. This gift is both for Freya herself, and for the living tradition of the Runes that she has helped keep alive for us all.

Update: Horayy! Freya received the this Hand-Carved Rune set in the mail JUST before the Canada Post strike (all mail has completely CEASED at the moment!) So I put it in the mail just in time!
