Stan and Jan Berenstain’s journey as artists and storytellers began long before the first Berenstain Bears book was published in 1962. Both trained as artists, they built careers as magazine cartoonists before turning to children’s books. With support from Dr. Seuss (Ted Geisel), their first book, The Big Honey Hunt, introduced the Bear family to the world. The series quickly grew in popularity, leading to over 300 books, animated specials, and a beloved Saturday morning cartoon.
